The impossible house
Documentary
A work in progress
For over 50 years, Americans have sought the dream of homeownership, once achievable in diverse, walkable neighborhoods. However, especially in coastal California, years of policies favoring wealth and discouraging public transit have made this dream increasingly elusive. Coastal California real estate is now deemed overpriced, and many workers can't afford homes near their jobs. This has transformed the American Dream into "The Impossible House."
"The Impossible House" delves into California's housing crisis through the stories of three households:
A medium-income family struggling to find a home.
A family caught in a decade-long regulatory battle to build.
A young professional woman derailed by changing policies.
A former county supervisor advocating for a "transit village."
The film also features insights from mobility experts and planners challenging outdated housing models. It sheds light on the systemic issues hindering homeownership, proposing new paradigms that could reshape our future. "The Impossible House" not only exposes the struggles of those alienated in their quest for a home but also ends on a hopeful note: current crises could be catalysts for significant change, provided we're willing to embrace new solutions.

The short life of the WHERE WE LIVE - VLOG
After briefly promoting "Where We Live" and seeing low viewer retention, we've pivoted back to focusing on our upcoming documentary, “The Impossible House” where these initial interviews were drawn from. The interviews and a new trailer for The Impossible House are complete, and editing is underway, with a target release for Q2 2024. Despite an initial foray into VLOG segments, we've decided to concentrate solely on the feature film due to limited interest and time. You can still view the first 12 episodes of "Where We Live" here.
